Microlensing in phase space II: Correlations analysis

چکیده

Applications of the phase space approach to the calculation of the microlensing autocorrelation function are presented. The continuous propagation equation for a random star field with a Gaussian velocity distribution is solved in the leading non-trivial approximation using the perturbation technique. It is shown that microlensing modulations can be important in the interpretation of optical and shorter-wavelength light curves of pulsars, power spectra of active galactic nuclei and coherence estimates for quasi-periodic oscillations of dwarf novae and low-mass X-ray binaries. Extra scatter in the brightness of type Ia supernovae due to gravitational microlensing is shown to be of order up to 0.2m depending on the extent of the light curves.

Interferometric Visibility and Closure Phase of Microlensing Events with Finite Source Size

Interferometers from the ground and space will be able to resolve the two images in a microlensing event. This will at least partially lift the inherent degeneracy between physical parameters in microlensing events. To increase the signal-to-noise ratio, intrinsically bright events with large magnifications will be preferentially selected as targets. These events may be influenced by finite sou...

Microlensing in phase space I: Continuous propagation of variability moments

A method to calculate the statistical properties of microlensing light curves is developed. The approach follows works by Deguchi & Watson, Seitz & Schneider and Neindorf, attempting to clarify the ideas involved and techniques used in the calculations. The method is then modified to include scattering by multiple lensing planes along the line of sight and transition to a continuous limit of th...

We present a sample of microlensing events discovered in the Difference Image Analysis (DIA) of the OGLE-II images collected during 3 observing seasons, 1997–1999. 4424 light curves pass our criteria on the presence of a brightening episode on top of a constant baseline. Among those, 512 candidate microlensing events were selected visually. We designed an automated procedure, which unam-biguous...

Planet Sensitivity from Combined Ground- and Space-based Microlensing Observations

To move one step forward toward a Galactic distribution of planets, we present the first planet sensitivity analysis for microlensing events with simultaneous observations from space and the ground. We present this analysis for two such events, OGLE-2014-BLG-0939 and OGLE-2014-BLG-0124, which both show substantial planet sensitivity even though neither of them reached high magnification. This s...

Microlensing with the space interferometer Radioastron

It is well-known that gravitational lensing is a powerful tool to investigate matter distributions including DM. Typical angular distances between images and typical time scales depend on gravitational lens masses. For microlensing case angular distances between images or typical astrometric shifts due to microlensing are about 10 − 10 μas. Such an angular resolution will be reached with the sp...
